Butterfield Market NewsLetter

Hark, the Butterfield Angels sing! Make a list, check it twice and don't forget Auld Lang Syne.

‘Tis The Season indeed.  A time for gift giving and merriment A time for Frosty, Rudolph, All Ye Faithful, and yes, the Herald Angels singing.  Something about this time of year just evinces the aroma of chestnuts on an open fire too.  The holiday season can be a time of stress as you balance a working and a giving agenda plus all those parties.  Let Butterfield assist; we have a spectacular array of gift ideas, a sumptuous holiday menu and catering ideas.  After all, we want your thoughts to dwell on Silver Bells.

There’s no place like Butterfield for the holidays!
Our shelves are chock full of excellent holiday gift ideas ranging from beautifully packaged chocolates and other sweets from Godiva, Too Good Gourmet, and Lake Champlain.  We’re also pleased to offer Nutcracker centerpieces, traditional Christmas puddings, and a build your own Gingerbread house kit.

In addition, our charcuterie case has delights like the D’Artagnan Foie Gras Medallions with black truffles, foie gras stuffed prunes, and a wonderful variety of pates.

Our Own Creations for the holiday.

Start your Christmas shopping with Butterfield Gift Baskets. At our website, www.butterfieldmarket.com/giftbaskets.html, you can peruse 19 different varieties of baskets and stockings and other extraordinary gift ideas. Also, we can custom design one for you.

Also look for our Christmas menu. This year we’re offering a southern twist with Baked Virginia and Spiral Hams as well as Black Eyed Peas (with ham hock!) and macaroni and cheese. Also, we will offer the delicious pies from Tate’s of South Hampton. Stop in for a menu or download it from our website.

Tis the season for caviar too!

While you’ve undoubtedly heard about the rapidly dwindling supplies of Caspian Sea caviar, our Evan Obsatz has been working with the experts at Paramount Caviar to find suitable alternatives that will complement your holiday entertaining.

“If you’re not looking to spend $300 an ounce on the Caspian, then the farm raised offers an excellent value and quality,” he said. Butterfield will have Caspian, Farm-Raised Osetra, American Paddlefish Caviar, as well as Trout and Salmon Roe this season. You needn’t take us at our word on the quality. Friday the 21st from 6-7, we will be holding a tasting of the Paddlefish Caviar.

Vacherin Mont D’Or: This seasonal classic is full of deep mushroomey flavor and is perfect for any cold weather red wine.

We’re adding more organic varieties.

We’re delighted to expand our offerings of the finest in organic produce available in this neighborhood.  We are adding certified organic Gala and Fuji Apples from renowned upstate orchards.  Also, look for organic winter vegetables like persimmons and broccoli as well as organic mixed greens.

Polaine is the leading name in French bread, and we’re thrilled to reintroduce their sour dough loaves. They are flown in every Thursday through the holidays. Look for the think golden exterior and brown inside.

This is the season of giving but at Butterfield we give all year round to City Harvest.  Your continued support has enabled us to donate 5000 pounds of food to city’s less fortunate.  For this, we thank you and wish you and yours the happiest and healthiest of holiday seasons.
